Prior to the season beginning the Lakers were one of the favorites for the NBA title in 2021-22 after adding Russell Westbrook to their roster, along with players such as Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Kendrick Nunn and more. 

They flamed out way before the playoffs, and couldn't even muster enough fight to secure a Play-In berth. 

Now, the turmoil surrounding the Lakers is continuing despite their season being over for weeks now. Players don't have the final say in team moves. The call on Westbrook would have come down to the Lakers front office, but it will be interesting to see what happens moving forward.
